College of Education Offering Accelerated, Online Graduate Programs
The University of South Carolina College of Education is offering four new accelerated, highly focused online graduate programs that can be tailored to meet students’ individual interests or career goals.
The new programs, including Masters of Education in Teaching, Masters of Education in Education Administration, Masters of Education in Education Technology, and Doctor of Education in Curriculum and Instruction, are comprised of eight-week courses. This accelerated format allows students to take one course at a time, providing a rich, investigative experience with each topic.
Additionally, the courses are asynchronous, which addresses the needs of the changing population and graduate students with work, family or geographic constraints. The lower cost of the online program and tuition discounts offered to current South Carolina teachers also address economic barriers.
"We're eliminating the obstacles to receiving advanced degrees," says Zach Kelehear, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and a faculty member at the College of Education, "and providing rich educational programs that allow people to remain in their communities—wherever they are—and work and take care of their families at the same time."
