Karen S. Bullard is Kershaw County School District's Principal of the Year
Lugoff-Elgin Middle School (LEMS) Principal Karen S. Bullard was named the Kershaw County School District “2014 Principal of the Year.” Bullard completed her Educational Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership from USC’s College of Education in 2009. In 2010, Bullard became principal of Lugoff-Elgin Middle School. In addition to her LEMS principal duties, Bullard is currently a first-year doctoral student within Educational Administration Ph.D. Program at the College of Education!
Bullard has served as the LEMS principal since 2010. Under her leadership, LEMS is the first middle school in South Carolina to be re-designated twice for the national Schools to Watch honor recognizing outstanding academic excellence, developmental responsiveness, socially equity and organizational structure.
On March 5, 2014, KCSD Superintendent Frank Morgan made the announcement at a district meeting in a unique way through a video. Principal Bullard was surprised when her two daughters Peyton and Brittany came on screen to announce that she was the winner. They congratulated their mother with deserved accolades for her hard work, integrity, dedication, and love.
